Our Maintenance electricians install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical systems, apparatus and electrical and mechanical components of industrial machinery and equipment.  Provide technical support for the Maintenance Manager, plant and all maintenance personnel.  Works daily to ensure assigned areas of responsibility are working with risk lowered to As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) specifically in an effort to achieve ZERO HARM so no injuries, illness or negative impact occurs to employees, property, the environment or the community.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Skill Set A                                                                                                                                                                           
  • Meets all Safety Training Requirements
  • Knows and wears all personal protective equipment (PPE) properly
  • Knows location of all emergency stops
  • Housekeeping
  • Basic repair of auxiliary components
  • Operates hand and power tools
  • Reads micrometer, calipers and depth gauges
  • Understands basic functions of plant equipment
  • Assists in repairing plant equipment
  • Minor forklift repairs
  • Change straps, heads, etc. on welder
  • Butt welder adjustments and repair
  • Stripper adjustments and repair
  • Lighting/Ballast
  • Obtains forklift license
  • Operates man lift
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical safety and general safety requirements
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of safe and proper use of basic electrical diagnostic equipment (volt/ohm meters, meggers, etc.)

Skill Set B                                                                                                                                                                           

  • Basic multimeter functions (i.e. fuses, conductivity)
  • Familiarity of plant equipment
  • Basic repair of auxiliary components
  • Knowledge of polarity on all welders
  • Troubleshoot polarity training
  • Basic electrical repair on all plant equipment
  • Basic troubleshooting skills (i.e. hydraulics, electrical, mechanical)
  • Basic mechanical repair on all plant equipment
  • Basic knowledge of welder and draw machine operating capability

Skill Set C                                                                                                                                                                           
  • Ability to remove and install all motors, reconnect to load and test run
  • Reads blueprints, schematics, electrical diagrams and symbols
  • Must be able to diagnose and correct complex problems in the AC motor drives, DC motor drives and induction furnace drives
  • Must be proficient in all aspects of machine troubleshooting, electrical and mechanical
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical power distribution systems and make replacements as needed
  • Ability to operate all draw machines and welders for the purpose of troubleshooting functions

Skill Set D                                                                                                                                                                           
  • Advanced electrical circuits (i.e. relays, contactors, motors, starters, DC drives)
    • 24V, 110V, 220V, 277V, 480V
    • Welders
    • Shear
    • Coiler
    • Demag cranes
    • Draw machines
    • PLCs (Siemens, Mitsubishi)
    • Setup, calibrate AC motor drives and DC motor drives
    • Install welder transformer according to print
    • Adjust, calibrate, potentiometer on Moog Servo motor
  • Ability to draw electrical schematics
  • Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems utilizing tools such as ohm meter, volt meter, oscilloscope and computer software
  • Ability to read a set of electrical prints and install wire machinery to manufacturers specifications
  • Solder electrical and electronic components
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of safe and proper use of the more advanced electrical diagnostic equipment (i.e. AC powered oscilloscopes, recording volt/ammeters)
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair control systems that utilize programmable controllers and similar devices
  • Responsible for training others
  • Leads overhaul
  • On call for afterhours service calls

Skill Set E                                                                                                                                                                            
  • Must be competent in planning and completing preventative maintenance
  • Must be proactive in plant improvements
  • Must demonstrate the ability to assist in planning and directing installation of equipment
  • Must demonstrate the ability to lead a small crew on a project
  • Must be able to make program modifications within PLCs and provide necessary documentation for such modifications
  • Must be able to program digital motor controllers
  • Must be able to understand financial processes and perform cost analysis of installations or modifications to equipment
  • Must be able to install new control equipment such as drivers, controllers and motors
  • Must provide proof of successful completion of formal training by an acknowledged AC or DC drives school (i.e. Reliance, EEI, Siemens)

Skill Set F                                                                                                                                                                                           
  • Must provide documentation showing completion of formal training in the electrical field
  • Minimum of five (5) year’s work-related experience is required
  • Must provide documentation of professional or technical (associate degree in electrical or electronics); an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience may be acceptable
  • Must have exhibited competency in training and developing personnel
  • Must have trained personnel in Skill Sets A - E

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
The education and experience requirements listed here indicate the minimum basic educational knowledge and minimum previous work-related experience required by the job duties of the position.

Education:
Broad Technical training (high school plus 1 to 2 years of apprenticeship/applied trades training).  Training requires a basic knowledge in the use of shop mathematics together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, PLC programs, DC drive motors, AC drive motors and various types of precision measuring instruments is required.

Experience:
Minimum of 2 years electrical technician experience is required.

An equivalent combination of education and work-related experience may be acceptable.
