Position Snapshot
Works primarily to complete detailed models of concrete reinforcing products, including production data.  AutoCAD is the primary detailing software; the use of other design software may be necessary. This role will also involve learning other software tools to communicate with our operating software systems.
Projects will be assigned by the Operations Manager. Once assigned to a project, the Detailer/Project Manager will work at the direction of the assigned Project Manager to meet all client needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
An individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.
  • Developing detailed construction and manufacturing drawings.
  • Work with team members to design, layout or detail components and structural systems.
  • Troubleshoot and modify drawings as needed.
  • Position requires a person with good interpersonal skills and the ability to be a team player
  • Performs rebar to engineered structural mesh (ESM) conversions and shop drawings as necessary through use of Tekla and other software to support ESM product designs.
  • Professional presentations of conversions include AutoCAD, spreadsheets, engineering calculations and typed correspondence.
  • Provides conversions that facilitate economic manufacturing.
  • Provides takeoff and shop drawing preparation services  
  • Participation in the process by which customer expectations are managed and satisfied
  • Technical comprehension of customer-provided information to the degree necessary for preparation of competitive ESM drawings, and the tactful and effective communication skills necessary to foster this comprehension and maintain customer trust.
  • Provision of detail on ESM documents and drawings that is thorough, accurate, and complete in proportion to the level of customer-information provided for our use, and consistent in its presentation for Insteel sales interpretation.
  • Assists with Project Manager responsibilities as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and Experience
  • Extensive professional, technical or administrative training (Bachelor's Degree/Civil Engineer/Structural). Broad knowledge of general Civil Engineering includes a working knowledge of CAD
  • Experience in Revit or other BIM applications.
  • Understanding of concrete reinforcing systems.
  • General understanding of basic building systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven capabilities as a detailer.
