Position Snapshot
The Inside Sales Representative will act as a liaison between multiple internal and external customers including Outside Sales Group/District Sales Manager, National Sales Manager, Master Scheduler, Logistics, Shipping, Accounting, and Production contacts.
To perform well in this role, you will need to:
- Have excellent phone interaction skills with a professional demeanor to be the "voice of the Company"
- Catch all the details in customer interactions resulting in accurate and efficient order processing
- Manage multiple and conflicting priorities while making problem solving decisions
- Be able to perform well in a multi-faceted team environment with various peers and a variety of business leaders
- Possess a firm understanding and ability to perform basic mathematical skills to generate quotes, understand and manage inventory levels, create Purchase Orders (PO), and manage information and input data
- Tactfully manage customer complaints and claims within the framework of Insteel's requirements
- Prepare and maintain various reports as requested
A Day in the Life
After booting up your computer and grabbing a cup of coffee, you can expect a fast-paced day with a variety of activities and contacts:
- Check in with your business leaders, check your phone messages, and quickly review your email inbox to see if there are any tasks that need to be your top priority
- Follow up on the previous day's shipments, and begin setting up the current day's shipments
- Check on the status of your orders in production
- Book new orders into production
- Send pending quotes out to customers
- Update your inventory spreadsheets
- File closed orders and sent quotes
Qualifications to be considered for the role:
- Minimum high school diploma (or equivalent); associate's degree preferred; or a combination of education and applicable experience
- Exceptional customer service skill
- A minimum of 2 years' related work experience is preferred
- Possess a good understanding of basic math skills and numerical abilities
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite to include Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Excellent phone and communication skills
- Be adaptable to working within a Team Environment
- Able to manage multiple priorities at once
