Sales Engineer
Represents Insteel Cast-in-Place (CIP) in an assigned territory/market by prospecting, selling, and servicing accounts in accordance with company policies and procedures. Works to build and maintain effective communication channels with the Engineer of Record community. Introduces Welded Wire Reinforcement (WWR) to the light commercial and industrial prospects and accounts within assigned territory or market. Achieves objectives by increasing IEP’s ability to convert rebar projects to WWR. Is knowledgeable of territory and market conditions and regularly provides feedback on potential challenges CIP faces. Coordinates all efforts with IEP Team, as teamwork is essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Sales
- In coordination with bidding department, SE determines and negotiates customer requirements based on the scope of the project. Including, but not limited to, customer preferences, regional nuances, technical challenges, pricing, and logistics.
- Main areas of focus:
- Develops and implements sales methods in assigned territory/market to achieve business plan objectives
- Builds rapport with the Engineer of Record Community to familiarize the industry with WWR
- Prospects the light commercial and industrial markets
- Serves as a technical resource for DSM’s as needed
- Periodically meets with customers to develop rapport, reviews status of relationship, and performances to customer expectations. Travels territory in an organized and systematic manner for the most profitable and economical use of time and dollar expenditures.
Organization
- Develops and presents analysis of business trends, customer relations, competitor information, and other historical/forecasting data.
- Maintains accurate records of all accounts, current, prospects, and competition.
- Prepares and submits travel itineraries and call reports on a weekly basis; forecasts, territory activity, and expense reports monthly and other reports as required by National Sales Manager.
- Understands present and future market conditions based on research, customer input, broad industry analysis, economic indicators, and other factual and intuitive sources of information.
- Communicate with Estimating Manager, National Sales Manager, and others as necessary to inform of all activity in the territory.

Education and Experience
- Extensive professional, technical or administrative training (Bachelor's Degree/Civil Engineer/Structural) required.
- Broad knowledge of marketing and sales; specifically prospecting and building customer relations, computer skills, and able to work in a team environment.
- Required knowledge of the engineered structural mesh and/or prestressed concrete industries.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar industry or 3 years field sales experience in similar industry.
- Ability to read construction plans.
- An equivalent combination of education and work-related experience may be acceptable.
