About You

The person we are looking for will collaborate with other financial staff and business unit personnel to provide financial and accounting support to corporate and plant management.   

Position Snapshot

A Project Accountant manages the financial aspects of projects and works with team members to manage, analyze, and report project costs and revenue, ensuring proper revenue recognition. To be successful in this role you will:

Support Project Accounting
  • Review support for new projects to ensure appropriate documentation has been received and correctly entered into the system.  Follow up in a timely and consistent manner to ensure missing documentation is provided and that changes are properly supported.
  • Prepare weekly shipment reports.
  • Perform ongoing reconciliations between revenue recognition and customer project billings.  Ensure that project details agree with project totals and that revenue recognized is an accurate reflection of shipments to date.   Ask questions to clarify situations and better understand details.
  • Monitor project-related transactions to ensure that plant shipments, third-party invoices, contract change orders, returns, etc. are booked timely and properly. Use problem solving, analytical and communication skills to resolve issues as they arise.
  • Perform monthly close processes, including a detailed analysis of open projects, review of project revenue, cut-off review, and account analysis, as needed. 
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management.
  • Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Support Plant Accounting –
  • Perform a variety of accounting activities involving plant general and cost accounting functions – review of monthly expenditures and positions for proper departmental coding, analysis of item costs, perpetual inventory review and analysis of plant transactions in support of plant accounting.
  • Coordinate and monitor the weekly cycle count program.
  • Manage month-end close for assigned plants including journal entries, inventory reconciliations and account analysis. 
  • Review plant financial reporting and perform analysis to ensure accurate and timely financial records, schedules and statements.
  • Support preparation of annual departmental budgets and quarterly forecasts at the plant level.
  • Prepare supplemental weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for management.
  • Travel to visit plant locations as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration with extensive course work in accounting
  • 2-4 years of experience in accounting
  • A working knowledge of plant operations in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Familiarity with automated accounting systems (preferably Oracle) and PC software (Excel)
