About You

The person we are looking for will implement sourcing strategies, manage supplier relationships, and optimize the supply chain for a leading producer of steel mesh and preformed concrete strand products.

Position Snapshot

A Procurement and Logistics Manager is commonly expected to have a strategic vision, leadership, and expertise in procurement, logistics, and inventory management to ensure consistent material availability while achieving cost efficiencies. To be successful in this role you will:

Strategic Procurement:
  • Execute comprehensive procurement strategies for key materials, including steel rod, wire, and other essential raw materials.
  • Identify, evaluate, and establish strong supplier relationships to secure competitive pricing, favorable terms, and consistent supply.
  • Participate in negotiations to secure long-term agreements that align with company goals for quality, cost, and reliability.
  • Monitor global and domestic markets for trends, risks, and opportunities impacting material costs and availability.
Logistics and Supply Chain Management:
  • Oversee inbound and outbound logistics operations to ensure timely delivery of materials and finished products.
  • Develop strategies to optimize freight costs, transportation routes, and carrier partnerships.
  • Implement inventory control processes that align with production schedules while minimizing carrying costs.
  • Manage warehouse operations to ensure efficient storage, accurate inventory tracking, and order fulfillment.
Supplier Relationship Management:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers.
  • Establish performance metrics for suppliers and lead supplier evaluation and improvement initiatives.
  • Identify and qualify alternative supply sources to mitigate risk and improve flexibility.
Leadership and Collaboration:
  • Lead and mentor a team responsible for purchasing, and logistics.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, including production, sales, and finance, to align sourcing strategies with business objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
Risk Management and Compliance:
  • Develop strategies to mitigate supply chain risks, including disruptions, geopolitical concerns, and trade policy changes.
  • Ensure compliance with trade regulations, import/export laws, and industry standards.

Requirements and Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or logistics leadership roles, preferably in the steel, construction materials, or manufacturing industries.
  • Proven experience managing domestic and global supplier networks and negotiating complex contracts.
  • Strong understanding of commodity markets, particularly steel and related materials.
  • Expertise in logistics, transportation strategies, and inventory control best practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret market trends, assess risks, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (Oracle) and supply chain management software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel).
  • Experience managing rod procurement, tariffs, and trade regulations specific to the steel industry preferred.
  • Familiarity with preformed concrete strand production processes or steel wire manufacturing and associated supply chain challenges preferred.
  • Certification in supply chain management (e.g., CSCP, CPSM) is a plus.
