Position Snapshot
Responsible for supporting and improving production operations through engineering analysis, process optimization, and equipment development. This role ensures that manufacturing processes are efficient, reliable, safe, and aligned with organizational quality standards. The position works closely with Production, Quality, and Maintenance, to drive continuous improvement and support operational goals.

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship and requires being located in the US and eligibility to work in the US.

This position requires up to 50% travel to Insteel Wire Products manufacturing facilities in Arizona, Texas, Tennessee, Missouri, Kentucky, Florida, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania, with frequent air travel. To ensure timely plant support, the ideal candidate will reside near an existing Insteel facility; relocation assistance may be available for a highly qualified candidate who meets all role requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
An individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.
  • Provide technical support to production teams, including troubleshooting equipment and process issues.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance to improve equipment reliability and support preventive maintenance initiatives.
  • Develop, evaluate, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
  • Design and implement production tooling, fixtures, and equipment to support manufacturing operations.
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for process deviations or equipment failures.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) by developing process flows, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Maintain and update engineering documentation, including process sheets, control plans, and standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing, and other continuous improvement activities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements in all manufacturing processes.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, assembly, welding,
  • Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo).
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, cross functional environment.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in high volume or automated manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, robotics, or industrial automation systems.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other structured improvement methodologies.
