The Quality Assurance Technician performs all testing of raw materials and finished products, providing technical support to production and management within the scope of training levels.  Works daily to ensure assigned areas of responsibility are working with risk lowered to As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) specifically in an effort to achieve ZERO HARM so no injuries, illness or negative impact occurs to employees, property, the environment or the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Quality Assurance Technician carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. This description identifies the key responsibilities and expectations for performance. It cannot encompass all specific job tasks that an employee may be required to perform. Other job-related responsibilities may be assigned based on the company’s pay-for-skills program and job-related duties as reasonably assigned by his/her supervisor.
 
  • Conducts raw material and finished goods testing, including physical, mechanical, and metallographic tests using specialized equipment.
  • Records, analyzes, and charts test data; prepares quality and technical reports, including weekly summaries.
  • Performs audits on production processes, identifies quality issues, and supports ICA/PCA development.
  • Maintains compliance with ASTM specifications and manages product certifications and shipment approvals.
  • Provides technical support, collaborates with internal teams, and addresses customer and agency inquiries, including Return Merchandise Authorizations.
  • Calibrates measuring instruments, maintains documentation, and oversees record retention systems.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
The education and experience requirements listed here indicate the minimum basic educational knowledge and minimum previous work-related experience required by the job duties of the position.

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; knowledge of arithmetic, English and grammar; ability to complete simple forms and understand written instructions; ability to perform arithmetic skills involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and decimals.

Experience:
Minimum of 12 months work-related experience is preferred, including use of various testing equipment, computer skills in word processing and spreadsheets and written and verbal communication skills.  Above average skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Email and Oracle preferred.

An equivalent combination of education and work-related experience may be acceptable.

Skills and Abilities

Requires the use of judgment to plan, perform and make decisions as to the sequence of setups, operations, and processes within the limitations of recognized or standard methods and procedures.
